What is a Bagua

The Bagua is one of the most important tools in Feng Shui practice, used to understand how energy, or Chi (Qi), flows through a home, office, or property. Rooted in ancient Chinese philosophy, the Bagua is an energetic map that divides a space into nine life areas, each representing a specific aspect of human experience.

In Feng Shui, the Bagua is applied by placing the map over a floor plan to identify where different life energies are located. These nine areas include Wealth & Abundance, Fame & Reputation, Love & Relationships, Family, Health, Creativity, Knowledge, Career, and Helpful People. Each section of the Bagua corresponds to one of the five Feng Shui elements—Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, or Water—as well as specific colors, shapes, and symbols.

In the Western (BTB) practice, the Bagua is aligned with the main entrance of the space with the purpose to create balance, harmony, and positive energy flow. By understanding and applying the Bagua, individuals can make intentional design and layout choices that support well-being, prosperity, relationships, and personal growth. As a core Feng Shui concept, the Bagua serves as both a practical and symbolic guide for transforming living and working environments into spaces of balance, clarity, and vitality.
